Advanced Consciousness Programme, 2012
Another exciting project that I want to draw your attention to is our new Advanced Consciousness Programme, due to start in February, 2012.
The Advanced Consciousness Programme will be the most advanced of my courses available in 2012. The course is designed to fine-tune the skills required to explore your being in depth. It will help you to develop and maintain an expanded conscious presence and will greatly increase your ability to reside in an elevated state of consciousness. You will learn how to remain centred and open-hearted during challenges and to become a steadfast light for others in these changing times.
Over an 8 month period, there will be an exciting schedule featuring 20 on-line webinars, 25 guided meditations, Q&A sessions, small group discussions, and support from some of my most advanced students. There will also be a special 2 day retreat in California for all participants, and for people who took part in the 2010 and 2011 Facilitator Training Programme.
I very much look forward to welcoming all those who are keen to be part of this new community in 2012.
Please click here to read more about the programme and to register for a free teleseminar that I will be hosting next week.
In addition to the above, we are planning to run two public retreats next year in the USA and two workshops in the UK. Details will be announced on my website and in future newsletters as soon as they are confirmed.

Message
As we look forward to next year, many thoughts are focusing on the changes that 2012 may bring us. This has been widely addressed across many areas but it is safe to say that it has been most hotly debated in the ecological and spiritual arenas. As 2011 has unfolded, we have seen, however, that change is not affecting these areas alone. The political, economic and social arenas have seen consistent upheaval and revision. Combined with the general uncertainty of what is to come, there is a feeling that we are living in unprecedented times, and more importantly, that the previous solutions for such challenges are no longer working.
Many attempts are being made to legislate predictability; to borrow or reassign monetary worth to promote confidence, which will in turn inject life into the markets. One cannot help but feel that this is simply a case of moving the furniture around, as every week, just as the world is attending to one 'crisis', a new, and unforeseen, need arises. The same thinking, intentions, assumptions and beliefs that brought us to our present impasse are still in use! The chosen 'solution' seems to be to try harder using the same formula, despite the fact that it clearly isn’t working.
It's easy to point the finger and say 'they' are getting it wrong and that 'we' are helpless, and on the receiving end of such attempts. But what if we were to use the present turmoil as an opportunity to do things differently, on an individual, social and global level? What if we used that opportunity to its fullest? It’s true that change on a global scale needs time for integration, but if we can agree on the key elements, it makes change, on every level, much more possible and likely to succeed.
What are the key elements needed for life to work well? We can turn to the cosmos, the earth, and nature for clues. These vast systems have in-built self-sustaining programmes, none of which employ legislation, borrowing or ever increasing debt in the model. If we study how existence does the job, we find some consistent laws in operation. And this intelligence, which is clearly discernible in the working order of existence, is freely available to humans too. If only we would take notice!
What are these laws and how do we begin to notice them? Obviously the format of a newsletter is not comprehensive enough to do justice to the eternal laws of existence but we can start to notice the fundamental truths that do operate consistently in our daily life, whether or not we recognise them. The same laws that keep existence in continual balance can work in our own lives. We can start to allow that influence to create inner balance, peace and harmony on an individual basis, and by doing so we feed that influence into the wider community and out to the world.
Over the coming newsletters, we will examine the relationship between our inner experience and our experience of life in more depth. To begin very simply, ask yourself these questions (and I encourage you to write down the answers):
| 1. |
When you feel at your happiest, does that arise from an external reality or an internal state? |
| 2. |
Which internal states give you the most reliable satisfaction? |
| 3. |
What qualities do you associate with them? |
| 4. |
Of your favourite qualities to experience, what do they all share in common? |
| 5. |
Do your favourite qualities allow you to feel expansive, lighter and more harmonious? |
| 6. |
What percentage of your day/life do you focus your attention on them? |
| 7. |
What happens when you do? |
| 8. |
Choose 10 of the following states/qualities that you feel would most lead towards a healthy, peaceful and harmonious life/society/planet: |
| |
| Expansive |
Contractive |
| Love |
Fear |
| Kindness |
Unkind/Inconsiderate |
| Joy/Laughter/Smiling |
Depression/Sadness |
| Peace/Quietude |
Anxiety/Mania |
| Benevolence |
Malevolent/Ill-will |
| Gratitude/Appreciation |
Entitled/Ungrateful |
| Acceptance/Acknowledgment |
Denial |
| Trust/Respect |
Doubt/Disrespect |
| Encouragement/Support |
Dismissive/Unhelpful |
| Inclusion/Belonging |
Exclusion/Aloneness |
| Inspiration/Motivation |
Immobilisation |
|
| 9. |
How often do you focus on and allow your chosen states? |
| 10. |
Consider all your answers and ask yourself... Do the elements that make my life work also apply to society and the wider world? |
You have something that no other form of life on this planet has access to…and that is the choice of where we place our attention. No matter how restrictive, challenging, uncertain or detrimental the external situation, we have the freedom to choose. What we focus on, how long we focus on it, our attitude, our perception, our conclusions, our assumptions – they are all at our command. Even what we believe is up to us. The fact that we don’t utilise this freedom does not mean it doesn’t exist.
If we want a different future to the one we’re creating now; if we want our world to be a place where peace is the norm; if we want to get along with our fellow man; if we want every creature to have its rightful place in the web of life; if we want all beings to have access to adequate shelter, food and water; if we want to connect deeply with life and understand its meaning… then we must start now, with ourselves. There has been no better person and no better time for this to begin.
With love and blessings for a peaceful end to 2011,
Jeddah
